raised in Santa Ana And a product of sausd schools, Hector Bustos is the proud son of a single mother who raised him and his siblings in a working-class household.

He knows firsthand the challenges local families face and turned those experiences into purpose, becoming the first in his family to graduate from college and a strong advocate for public education.

Hector stepped up to run for the Santa Ana School Board in 2022 because he believed students, families, and educators deserved leadership that was accountable and accessible. Elected at just 23 years old, he became the youngest elected official in Santa Ana’s history. During his time in office, Hector has helped drive some of the strongest academic gains the district has seen in over a decade, while expanding mental health support and strengthening college and career pathways for students.

Now running for re-election, Hector is focused on protecting and strengthening public education in Santa Ana. He is committed to building on the progress made, continuing to deliver results for students and families, and ensuring every young person in the district has the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive.
