Hector is committed to strengthening and maintaining school-based mental health teams, including counselors, social workers, and wellness staff, so students can access help when they need it. He is also prioritizing culturally responsive services that reflect the diverse backgrounds of Santa Ana families, along with early intervention strategies and partnerships with community organizations.

College is not the only path to success, and Hector believes every student should graduate with real options. He is working to expand high-quality Career Technical Education (CTE) programs that connect students to hands-on learning, industry certifications, and direct pathways into good-paying careers. By strengthening partnerships with community colleges, local unions, and apprenticeship programs, Hector is ensuring students can transition seamlessly from high school into the workforce with the skills and opportunities they need to succeed.

Hector is leading efforts to improve literacy rates across the district by expanding access to reading specialists, investing in early literacy programs, and implementing targeted interventions for students who need additional support. He is also focused on learning recovery, ensuring that students who fell behind have the tools, instruction, and support needed to catch up and stay on track. His goal is simple: every student reading at grade level and prepared for the next step in their education.
